With Art Alexakis on guitar and vocals, Craig Montoya on bass and Scott Cuthbert on drums, Portland, Oregon-based grunge-rock band Everclear released their debut album, World of Noise, on the independent label Fire Records in 1993. Their follow-up, Sparkle and Fade, released by Capitol Records in 1995, attracted the attention of alternative-radio listeners with the singles Santa Monica and Heroin Girl.
