Santana
Santana emerged from San Francisco's music scene of the late '60s. Their music combined the experimentalism of psychedelia with Latin-influenced rhythms. Although the band has had numerous members, the center has always been Carlos Santana and his technically superior guitar playing. Santana made one of their most memorable performances at the Woodstock Music Festival in 1969. Their second album,
Abraxas, released in 1970, included the hits Oye Como Va and Black Magic Woman. Although Santana's popularity had dropped by the 1990s, their 1999 album,
Supernatural, was a commercial and critical success, winning eight Grammy Awards.
