Vocalist Lajon Witherspoon, guitarists John Connolly and Clint Lowery, bassist Vince Hornsby and drummer Morgan Rose formed this metal band in Atlanta, showing up on 1996’s Mortal Kombat: More Kombat soundtrack as Crawlspace with “My Ruin.” In 1997, changing their name to Sevendust for legal reasons, they released their self-titled debut. With the support of their label, radio play and constant touring, the slow-starting album went gold. They landed a spot on 1998’s Ozzfest, and before the August 1999 release of their follow-up, Home, Sevendust hit the road with the Warped tour.
