Shadows Fall
Massachusetts-based guitarists Jonathan Donais and Matthew Bachand formed Shadows Fall in 1996 with a strong grasp of Slayer and Metallica. They self-released their debut album, Somber Eyes to the Sky, in 1998, and in 2002 released their breakout album, The Art of Balance. With that album, Shadows Fall became one of indie metal's top-selling acts with brittle, nouveau thrash palatable to more than speed-metalheads.
