Earth, Wind & Fire
Brothers Maurice and Verdine White formed Earth, Wind & Fire, the funk, R&B and disco giants of the 70s, in Chicago in 1969. With a high-pitched vocal range (Philip Bailey joined the band in 1971) and a funky bass and horns section, EW&F scored their first chart success with Mighty Mighty in 1974. They grooved through the rest of the 70s with hits like Shining Star (from their first platinum-seller, 1975s
The Way of the World), Fantasy, September and Boogie Wonderland.
