Staind
Vocalist Aaron Lewis and guitarist Mike Mushok met at Christmas party in Springfield, Massachusetts, and, with drummer Jon Wysocki and bassist Johnny April, formed this metal band in 1995. They gigged relentlessly and were invited to open for Limp Bizkit in Hartford in 1997. Staind were initially rebuffed by (Limp Bizkit singer) Fred Durst because the cover of their self-produced album had strong anti-religious imagery, but Durst was so impressed with their live show that he got them a record deal anyway. Their second major-label release, 2001s
Break the Cycle, was No.1 on the charts for several weeks.
