Before splitting in 1998, Dead Can Dances Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry juggled language-free vocals, doom-laden arrangements, and the odd Elizabethan madrigal to often overwhelming effect. They formed this new-age Goth hybrid in Australia in 1981 and relocated to London, releasing their self-titled debut in 1984. They acquired a cult following that pushed their records up the British indie charts. Their first U.S. record was released in 1991.Reviews
