Rodney Sheppard (guitar), Murphy Karges (bass) and Stan Frazier (drums) recruited Mark McGrath (vocals) to join their hard-rock band, Shrinky Dinx, in 1992. Landing a deal with Atlantic Records in '94, the Southern Californiabased band changed its name to Sugar Ray and added a DJ, Craig Bullock (DJ Homicide). Though their debut album, Lemonade & Brownies (1995), failed to garner much attention, their alternative-pop follow-up, Floored (1997), which included the smash hit "Fly," went double platinum. 14:59, released in '99, did even better, going triple-platinum and producing three hits, "Every Morning," "Someday" and "Falls Apart."Reviews
