Charlotte Church

Welsh-born soprano Charlotte Church made her debut in 1998 at the age of 12, with the release of her album, Voice of an Angel, which launched her to classical superstardom. Born in Llandaff, Cardiff, Church showed promise at an early age, winning karaoke competitions at the age of 8. Several television appearances followed, along with live dates at established British venues like the London Palladium and the Royal Albert Hall. She released a second album, Charlotte Church, in 1999, which, like Voice of an Angel, went platinum in the U.S. Church released a Christmas album in 2000, followed by Enchantment in August 2001. Her reputation was marred later that year, however, after she made disparaging remarks about the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
