In 2001, At the Drive-In was a hot new rock act with rave reviews and a popular single, "One Armed Scissor." As it was emerging, critically and commercially, the band imploded. Vocalist Cedric Zavala and guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez left the group and formed the Mars Volta, while their former bandmates created Sparta. With Jon Theodore on drums, Juan Alderete on bass and Isaiah Owens on keyboards, Mars Volta released their critically well-received debut album, De-Loused in the Comatorium, in 2003.Reviews
