Barry Manilow
Soft-rock pianist-singer-songwriter Barry Alan Pincus, a.k.a. Barry Manilow, was born on June 17, 1946, in Brooklyn. Manilow got his start as Bette Midler’s pianist and arranger in the early ’70s. After landing a record deal with Arista, he began scoring huge adult contemporary hits, such as “Mandy,” “Even Now,” “Copacabana” and “I Write the Songs.” Changing direction in the ’90s, Manilow wrote two stage musicals.
