Bananarama
Formed in 1981 by Keren Woodward, Sarah Dallin and Siobhan Fahey, Bananarama became one of Englands most popular girl groups ever. Former Sex Pistol Paul Cook produced their first single, a cover of Swahili Black Bloods "Aie A Mwama," and they went on to top the U.K. charts 26 times. With the help of producers Stock, Aitkin & Waterman, Banarama released
Wow!, their most successful album, which featured the hit "Venus." In 1987 the group split when Fahey left to marry Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics. She later joined Shakespeares Sister.
