Blues guitar legend Riley "Blues Boy" King (born on September 16, 1925) was raised in the Mississippi Delta and relocated to Memphis, where his cousin Bukka White taught him the basics of blues guitar. King had his first hit on the R&B chart in 1951 with "Three O'Clock Blues," followed by a string of other hits throughout the '50s. In 1969 King crossed over from the R&B chart to the pop chart with his emotional version of Roy Hawkins's "The Thrill Is Gone," a song that has become his trademark. Reviews
