Annie Lennox
Born on December 25, 1954, in Aberdeen, Scotland, Annie Lennox studied at London's Royal Academy of Music before joining the Tourists, a post-punk band formed by guitarist Dave Stewart and songwriter Peet Coombes. The group released three albums between 1979 and 1980 before disbanding. Stewart and Lennox continued to collaborate, forming the Eurythmics in 1980. The synth-pop group had several hits, including "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" and "Who's That Girl." After the group split in 1990, Lennox continued on with a successful solo career, releasing the Grammy-nominated
Diva in 1992 and
Medusa in '95.
