Winston Foster (a.k.a. Yellowman), born in Jamaica in 1956, is a gangly albino, which made him an unlikely dancehall reggae sex symbol. But his verbal dexterity and salacious, witty lyrics enabled him to become one of the country’s most popular “toasting” DJs, celebrated for his run of sex-obsessed hit singles released in the early 1980s. Although he never cracked the American Top 40, his records were influential in hip-hop circles, with Poor Righteous Teachers famously sampling his “Nobody Move Nobody Get Hurt.”
