Avant-garde musician and visual and performance artist Yoko Ono was born on February 18, 1933, in Tokyo, Japan. Her well-to-do family lived briefly in San Francisco and moved back to Japan before WWII. In 1952 her family moved to New York and she gained a reputation in SoHos burgeoning art scene. In 1969 she married her third husband, John Lennon, and they recorded together with the Plastic Ono Band. Accused of breaking up the Beatles, Ono received her most favorable critical praise for 1981s Season of Glass, recorded just after John Lennon was murdered.Reviews
