Alien Ant Farm
Southern California-based alt-metal band Alien Ant Farm was formed in 1996 by singer Dryden Mitchell, guitarist Terry Corso, bassist Tye Zamora and drummer Mike Cosgrove. They released their debut album, Greatest Hits, independently in 1999. The album went on to win the Best Independent Album at the L.A. Music Awards, and Alien Ant Farm signed with New Noize/DreamWorks Records. They released ANThology in 2001, which featured their cover of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal." The album went platinum, selling more than three million copies worldwide. In 2002 Alien Ant Farm were waylaid when their tour bus crashed outside of Spain, killing their driver and injuring the band members. They regrouped to record 2003's truANT, with the help of producers Dean and Robert DeLeo, former guitarist and bassist for Stone Temple Pilots.
