In early 2000, after being discovered at the legendary New York rock club CBGBs and signed to Universal, the four Mississippi rockers released "Kryptonite," the single from their debut album, The Better Life. The album landed at No. 7 on the Billboard charts, and practically overnight, 3 Doors Down went from obscurity to superstardom as the record went double platinum.
