Like her collaborator Marvin Gaye, Tammi Terrell (born Thomasina Montgomery on April 29, 1945, in Philadelphia) had an early demise, dying from a brain tumor at age 24. While they were never linked romantically, the duo’s chemistry was undeniable on hits like, “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing,” “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “You’re All I Need to Get By.”
