Cursive: Swagger Like Indies with the Setlist of Rockstars

Cursive took the stage Tuesday night to a sequenced version of “Butcher the Song” off of their fourth studio record, The Ugly Organ. Tim Kasher and his heartland band—Omaha, Nebraska, natives before it was cool—had sold out the show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Kasher bashfully thanked the crowd, and solicited requests, saying, "I may ask you guys for help if this gets boring, I know I always get bored after 15 songs." After a solid 50 minutes, Cursive bid a short farewell with "From the Hips" but returned rock-star style to play an encore set of crowd-pleasing older numbers, including "The Martyr" from 2000's Domestica. Their new album Mama, I'm Swollen is out today.
