Radio On The TV: Week Of September 21, 2009, In Which Andrew W.K. Senses An Occluded Front
As Bob Dylan once said, you don't need a weatherman to tell which way the wind blows. But what if that weatherman was a party animal who wore white jeans? Dylan might change his tune, right?
He might if he saw Andrew W.K. when the "Party Hard" anthem man stopped by the local Fox affiliate in Tulsa over the summer to deliver what has to be one of the most outrageous weather reports in local news history. First, Andrew comments on the skyline imagery. Later, he fends off the the wind and precipitation markers on the map. Finally, he rattles off the days of the week for you. The forecast (and clip) may be two months old, but you won't see better TV today, that's for sure.
This Week's Listings
This week, Jay's back for week two, and it's clear that that the 10 PM slot on NBC will not break many new artists. Last week, the names included JAY-Z and Eric Clapton; this week, Smokey Robinson with British retro-soul singer Joss Stone, and... that's it. Well, the ads do say it's all about the comedy.
Over on Conan, expect aged (like moonshine) southern rock on Monday courtesy of Lynyrd Skynyrd and then on Tuesday, star-studded songwriting from the Conor Oberst, M. Ward, My Morning Jacket's Jim James, Mike Mogis-comprised supergroup Monsters of Folk.
Craig Ferguson welcomes music back to the Late Late Show with the excellent Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears tonight and the Arctic Monkeys on Wednesday.
The most intriguing booking of the week is at Fallon, where tonight, turn of the '90s funk/metal rockers Living Colour continue their late '00s comeback.
