Chickenfoot Turning Up The Heat

Have you heard of Chickenfoot yet? Chickenfoot is a small, Los Angeles rock band ready to release their debut album. The band is on a little tour right now. Oh, and their members are Sammy Hagar, Joe "F*ck Coldplay" Satriani, Michael Anthony and Chad Smith. You may have heard of them. All have successful careers. All have reputations for being nice, easy-going guys (I'm not exactly sure about Satriani in this regard, but he writes songs for his wife—the one he alleges Coldplay stole a melody from—so he must be an OK person). And all seem the type to want to get together and "jam."
Which is exactly what they've done. The band's self-titled debut is out June 9. They've even made a little video medley for your convenience (see below).
So... what does Chickenfoot sound like? Like early '80s, pre-Van Halen solo Hagar—gritty, guitary, screaming. A little bluesy. Good bar rock. Nothing wrong with that, dude.
And it has this neat-o CD cover! The idea is the product of inspiration in the face of intimidation. Muses packaging designer Todd Galloppo, "How was I going to design an album package for rock legends who have seen it all before?" Whoa, whoa, whoa... Chickenfoot aren't legends... YET. Oh wait, he meant the members' other projects. OK, they're all legends. And yes, deserving of unique packaging (see what I did there?). Let's take a look at the before and after shots. Here's the Chickenfoot CD booklet as is (untouched, that is to say):

And here it is once you get your grubby hands all over it, or hold it to your private bits:

Unfortunately, no one noticed that the 'k' is backwards. But who cares! The hotter it gets, the more you see! Speaking of seeing, you can see Chickenfoot on tour right now—a North American swing kicked off this week. Expect a lot of beer bellies and a whole lot of head-nodding and "sh*t yeah's!". In the summertime especially, that's not such a bad thing.
