Radio On The TV: Week Of May 11, 2009

Ever heard of Operation Aloha? No? Chances are that you've heard of some of the members' other bands: Gomez, Maroon 5 and Phantom Planet. They spent a month living, writing and recording together in Maui (see pic above). That doesn't suck. Their stage presence? Judge for yourself when they perform on Thursday's Last Call With Carson Daly show. Here's what they have to say about themselves:
"Operation Aloha happened because a man—one Christopher Wray-McCann, a photographer by trade - imagined that it could.
Following months of scheming, he enlisted his closest musician friends—made during years of shooting live music on the road and at home in Los Angeles—to drop their lives and their cell phones and hole up in tree houses in a quiet corner of paradise. The plan: bring instruments, microphones, just what could be carried in; then see what happens."
Also on the show that evening is Dodgers manager Joe Torre. Maybe Operation Aloha will grill him about Manny backstage?
Checking out the rest of the listings, you may have noticed that some cat named Yusuf is playing around a lot. That would be Yusuf Islam, aka the former Cat Stevens. He's got a new record out. Which may explain the timing of last week's Coldplay accusations?
