The Crawl: Blur To Go Back To School

blur_thumb.jpg+ After a band has become huge and have conquered the world several times over, they will sometimes go back to their roots. It's a way of "keeping it real." Blur will do just this when they play intimate warm-up gigs in advance of their mammoth London July shows. How far back are they going? All the way to the site of their first ever show: the Colchester East Anglian Railway Museum. Yes it's a benefit and yes that's in England. [Guardian]

+ Nothing like finding a nice new Tumblr. How about this one: Pre-Durst. It showcase music from the age before Limp Bizkit. Or, to quote their mission statement: "Fuck you, nu-metal. Fuck you, "modern rock." We're taking it back to when A&R agents got paid to watch David Yow knot up his weiner and I didn't know what a titty felt like." Aw, that sounds nice. + And while we're on the Tumblr topic, this isn't really about music, but it sure is funny, especially if you loathe cutesy Facebook status updates and wall postings from overly-in-love twerps. All hail STFUMarrieds. [STFUMarrieds]

+ This isn't good: Eminem's little brother Nathan Mathers was arrested and charged with drunken driving. He was nabbed early Wednesday in Macomb Township in suburban Detroit. [Chicago Tribune]

+ Athens, Georgia art guitar rockers Deerhunter are releasing an EP called Rainwater Cassette Exchange in May, and you can grab a free track from it at Pitchfork. [Pitchfork]

+ Tomorrow is Record Store Day. Why not go to a record store and buy something? Here's a handy list of the myriad exclusive releases artists have put together for the event. [Record Store Day]
