Least Surprising Press Release Headline of the Day

TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE FOR MC HAMMER AND VANILLA ICE

Somehow, Blender is not surprised that the residents of Orem, Utah have not scooped up all available tickets to see rap mediocrities MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice at the McKay Events Center on Friday, February 27.

First of all, it’s Utah, where minorities comprise less than 5 percent of the population and whites outnumber blacks by 95.1 percent to 1.3 percent. Orem, which calls itself “Family City USA,” is home to Marie Osmond and neighbors Brigham Young University.

Second, $35.50 (plus surcharges!) to hear “U Can’t Touch This” and “Ice Ice Baby”? You could download both from iTunes for $1.98, provided you were too lazy to fileshare them. Couldn’t the promoter have at least added Gerardo to the bill?

By the way, the press release also uses the phrases “concert of the year,” “history re-making,” “one-night-only performance”  and “A&E reality television show.”
