Rufus Wainwright is indulging his dark side. The humor, being, of course, that Rufus is asking people to refrain from all electric use or “expending activities that could harm the environment” for twelve hours on June 21, 2009 (noon to midnight). He’s calling it the “Blackoutsabbath,” and the goal is to promote energy conservation. Also, on March 4th at City Winery in Manhattan, Rufus Wainwright, Family and Friends are playing a show staged and performed completely without electricity. Except, of course, the hot white sparks coming off of the crooner himself. Rufus got the idea after the NYC blackout of 2003. Teddy Thompson, Jenni Muldaur, Lucy Wainwright Roche, Sloan Wainwright and others are scheduled to perform. Tickets go on sale tomorrow here.
