The Son Of Wilco Has A Blog

dsc07432.jpgIf you saw the Wilco documentary, I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, you probably remember lead singer Jeff Tweedy's cute son, Spencer.  In the film, he was just a small one, but now Spencer is a teenager (he's 13) - and he has his own blog.  The blog, SpencerTweedy.com, "offers readers a riveting mix of political insight, social commentary, pre-teen humor, music appreciation, and computer expertise," and it is UHHH-DORABLE.  This kid can write. For example, in an entry about a recent trip to New Zealand, Spencer muses on the kindness of the country's habitants:

"Our section’s flight attendant was particularly merry and had a sort of grandma-esque aura. Once we got on land and had walked around a little, we realized kindness does not only dwell in the thoughtful stewardess; New Zealand is a happy land. But why? Coming from Chicago (and having recently visited New York), its kind of an astonishing fact. We have a (slightly proven) theory: Smaller communities have better chemistry."

He's 13?  Wow.  Seriously, that is better - and more thoughtfully - written than many popular blogs by adults.  (I'm not sure if that's a reflection of how bad people's blogs can be, or how smart Spencer is.  Probably a combination of both.)  Without a doubt, the blog is a delightful insight into what life must be like for the child of a successful musician like Jeff Tweedy. Be sure to check out the photos from his birthday party: it appears that Fred Armisen attended.  This kid lives the life! Now let's hope he grows up to be a happy genius, and not some pretentious jackass!
