Lily Does Britney

Ever since the release of Britney Spears' new single, "Womanizer," the ironic/indie/hipster cover versions have started to appear.  Ladyhawke recently delivered a sad, angsty version, and now, Lily Allen has joined the fray, as revealed by Mark Ronson on his East Village Radio show this weekend.

It's a classy Ronson send-up with Lily's cool touch:

It's a bit ironic, in that Lily's first single, "The Fear," from her upcoming album It's Not Me, It's You, is a scathing commentary on celebrity and the likes of Britney Spears herself.  Perhaps Lily was trying to do some research by trying on a Britney song for a while?  I am not alone in this theory. Check out this TOTALLY DEEP mashup someone made of Britney's "Everytime" set to "The Fear."

That gave me chills. Or maybe we're reading too much into this?  Maybe it's just that every lady knows a womanizer out there - and wants to sing a sexy song about it.
