The People Chose Wrong: Britney Worst Boob On Tube
Britney Spears is having a pretty good year. In September, she won an MTV Video Music Award without having to do anything particularly embarrassing. Spears picked up another prize at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Liverpool last week. The popular single “Womanizer” has set her forthcoming album up for a big debut next month. And, Spears was just nominated for a People’s Choice Award—Favorite Scene Stealing Guest Star—for her appearance on a couple of episodes of How I Met Your Mother last season.
This is where I get off the boat.
Who are the people that made this choice? As a consistent fan of the CBS sitcom since its premiere, I can safely say that Spears’ mini-arc as a dopey, lovestruck receptionist counts among the show’s darkest, most desperate moments. Clearly offered up as no more than a ratings grab, the pop star’s cameo was a clunky, one-note affair that succeeded only in dragging down the performances of seasoned comic actors like Neil Patrick Harris and Sarah Chalke—well, that and earning the show its highest ratings ever. Nevertheless, I thought it sucked, but you can judge for yourself:
