Taylor Swift"Change"
This blandly triumphant new track from country's hottest young star would probably work as an Obama anthem, but its part of a musical tie-in with this year's Beijing Olympics. The track is all about, well, change: "These walls that they put up to hold us back will fall down," claims Swift, dipping into the shallow end of her metaphor guide. And, really, why would somebody like Michael Phelps need an anthem for change — he's already the best swimmer who ever lived. If anything, this song — which Phelps would never listen to while warming up — has more potential to encourage his opponents to rise up against the decorated American phenom. Let's think here, people! Even without its logistical problems, "Change" doesn't have any of the singer's trademark spot-on details that make her songs simultaneously personal and universal. But while we're on the topic of music and the games, how long until Lil Wayne drops a reference to 100-meter dash champ Usain Bolt? We give him three days.
