WHY: The minted star's Good Girl Gone Bad LP will take a victory lap in May when it's reissued with this new single and, um, nothing else. So it's not really a reissue (or even a "special edition") as much as a "hey, remember how you downloaded this record and was pleasantly surprised — maybe you should buy it now!" move. And while "Take a Bow" isn't good enough to make anyone re-buy the whole CD, the Ne-Yo-penned tune finds Rihanna comfortable enough to base a whole song around a sarcastic hook. "That was quite a show — very entertainin'," she scoffs, aiming her ire at an unfaithful ex. This is impressive because we didn't even know Rihanna could comprehend the concept of sarcasm before last year. Though the beat is kinda limp, the singer does all she can with Ne-Yo's straight-talk songwriting: "You're so ugly when you cry," she sings mercilessly, playing into her heartless robot rep. Considering her stunning transformation from wannabe pop star to legit pop star over the last 12 months, this curtsy is deserved.
