Feist Plays With Fire
WHO: Feist
WHAT: "I Feel It All" [Director: Patrick Daughters]
WHY: This new synchronized fireworks video from Apple's favorite inoffensive pitchwoman doesn't have anything on director Mark Romanek's mega-bottle rocket clip for Audioslave's "Cochise" (one of the best rock vids — and riffs — of the aughts, btw). If "Cochise" is like the best Michael Bay movie of all time, "I Feel It All" is the indie equivalent starring Ellen Page as a quaint and quirky girl who can literally feel the wind and see colors (cue Sufjan Stevens soundtrack). Well, maybe it's not that precious — even after the iPod bombardment, our admiration of Feist remains undiminished. The singer may be a little too amped about breaking her own heart here, but Leslie has the right to be giddy — she released one of 2007's best albums and (gasp!) actually sold a few copies of it to real people. If we pulled off such a feat, we would probably dance like a spazz in front of flashing lights, too.
