My Chemical Romance Bum-Rushed
There's nothing quite like a high school assembly: the boredom, the tediousness, the guy onstage going on about the hazards of smoking while talking through a voice box. My Chemical Romance give us a new twist on the typical assembly with their new video for the excellent Marc Bolan-stomping track "Teenagers." Doomsday cheerleaders in ghastly masks add some oddball sex appeal to the band's shuffle as singer Gerard Way spits out his paranoid plea: "Teenagers scare the living crap out of me/They could care less as long as someone'll bleed." In light of recent events, the band tacked on a message to the end of the video ("violence is never the answer") that brings everything down a bit and, considering this is one of the best songs off one of the best albums of last year, we're a bit underwhelmed by the clip — even if it includes a campy stage rush and Gerard making even more spastic moves than usual.![]()
