Tropical Tempest Katrina Kicking Up a VMA Storm

The buildup to this year's Miami VMAs is in danger of being washed out thanks to Tropical Storm Katrina, which hit Florida today and is due to reach hurricane status on Friday—just in time for Sunday's VMAs. The awards show will definitely take place since it's being held indoors, but outdoor parties are screwed. Stuff magazine's marketing director Doug Turner said they had to move their party "from the grounds of a $20 million mansion to an indoor space," while Hotel MTV—the official party palace of the VMAs—is being forced to shutter its doors. Still, expect the stars to show up, if only to collect their $26,000 gift bags.
