Streets of Fire (1984)It has as much in common with the fierce Springsteen song of the same name as the E Street Band does with Eddie and the Cruisers (ooh, a delicious half-topical analogy!). The real problem is that
Streets of Fire, which might be described as a musical action-comedy drama with hard-bitten dialogue straight out of 1940s pulp fiction, urinates all over genre lines. Factor in nigh-operatic Jim Steinman songs of the sort usually oversung by Meat Loaf, and
Streets is the cinematic equivalent of an overinflated balloon. But Diane Lane sure is purty.
