This Brit band played a relatively small stage at SXSW, but their mega-sized rock is built for stadiums — Your Vegas are aiming for the same open-road grandiosity that marked the Killer's last opus. SXSW 2008: Tommie Sunshine kicks back backstage at the Playboy Party
No, this isn't "The Dude" and it isn't the long-lost member of ZZ Top either — it's affable DJ Tommy Sunshine! Always fresh on the scene, Tommy caught up with us between deck duties at Playboy's killer SXSW party to talk about his Chicago acid house days, why he's still on a mission to break new music and what it’s like DJing in the far corners of the globe. As for the sexy Indian priestess at his knees? She didn't say peep.

SXSW 2008: Sure, there are a lot of great lines in rock n roll. But there will always be that one that rises above the rest, soaring out of the proverbial mosh pit like some space-traveling flying-v guitar. For us, it’ll always be Warren Zevon’s “I saw a werewolf drinking a piña colada at Trader Vic’s and his hair was perfect.” We’re sure you’ve got many of your own. So we put fans on the spot down at The Levi’s Fader Fort during SXSW and ended up with solid gold quotes from the likes of Slayer and Aqua. Yikes.

Music venues aren't the only establishments plagued by long lines during SXSW; restaurants and bars can be even harder to get into. With that in mind, Chicago's hyper rhyme spitter Kid Sister avoided the mess along 6th Street and went straight to Whole Foods, where she dropped $100 worth of Blender's cash on such essentials as beer and beef jerky. She even picked up a whole ham!

SXSW is all about hot women, large guns and dancing well into the wee hours, but it can be about contemplation, too. In the following video, inspirational rockers Flyleaf talk about their recent trip to Africa and perform a stripped-down version of "Broken Wings."
