Jay-Z
"A Billi" ("A Milli" Freestyle)
On Lil Wayne's new album, Jay-Z refers to Weezy
as "my heir," but he's not ready to give up his hip-hop crown just yet.
His new freestyle over Wayne's "A Milli" is part compliment, part chest
puff — it's Jay's way of saying "I respect you ... and I'm still
here." He makes this clear from line one: "Call me Philli Collins I feel a billin' is in the air." This is not weekend warrior Jay; This is grade-A Jay. (And, inexplicably, Phil Collins continues to be rap's
favorite soft rock crooner.) He doesn't mention Wayne at all, but he
does talk a bit about the presumptive Democratic nominee:
"Lick a shot for Barack Obama, change gon' come-a/ I'ma buy the whole hood llamas on me!" We're not sure if Obama
would approve of such widespread gun distribution, but it's
hard to argue with Jay when his brain cells are popping like this.
