Clipse
"Fast Life"
Clipse’s last album worked a Sin City palette: rich blacks, flurries of
white, occasional splatters of red. From the jiggy synthesizer beat,
courtesy of Scott Storch, to the money-tossing brags, "Fast Life" is
the closest they’ll come to a colorful party track — but it’s still
thick with menace. It’s supposedly the lead single from the forthcoming
Re-Up Gang album, and the rhyme play is often dazzling; one highlight comes courtesy of Malice: “And the boy got swagger/ Pop’s a
rolling stone — I’m Mick Jagger.” Not sure what that means, but with
these guys, we’re just gonna guess it’s a cocaine reference.
