photo_metrocard.jpgHere in New York City today, commuters are way up in arms over a skull-crushing combo of transit system fare hikes and service cuts proposed by the government to help deal with the current fiscal crisis. Considering our buses and trains run essentially all night, inhabitants of cities where one can easily be stranded after sundown without a car might find it difficult to sympathize with our plight. But we New Yorkers have a historic, somewhat romantic connection to our sprawling mass public transportation network—no matter what condition it’s in. Grandmaster Melle Mel - "Beat Street Theme"

MC Lyte - "Paper Thin"

Brand Nubian - "Pumps Jump Up to Get Beat Down"

Da Bush Babees - "Remember We"

Company Flow - "End to End Burners"

And this isn't technically hip-hop, but it totally is.
